Joe Adams
Regional Managing Director, Great Lakes
Summary of Experience
Joe Adams leads the
development and execution of the operating plan for the Great Lakes Region,
where he oversees management of the firm’s presence in northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin,
Indiana and Ohio.
Adams has been serving as Regional Managing Director of
the Great Lakes Region since April 2008.
Adams has held a number of different leadership roles with
RSM McGladrey and McGladrey & Pullen in his 29 years of service with the
firm. From 1998 to 2008, he served as Executive Managing Director of the Great
Lakes Economic Unit, where he successfully completed one of the largest
integrations in the firm’s history. Prior to 1998, Adams
was a partner in the General Services practice at McGladrey & Pullen, LLP.
Since joining the firm in
January 1979, he has served clients in a variety of industries, primarily in publishing
and manufacturing and distribution. While Adams has more than two decades of
progressive experience in the auditing arena, he has also advised clients in
many other areas, such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, operations, and
organizational and strategy matters.
Adams also has served as Personnel Partner, responsible
for recruitment, development and retention of people; Practice Development
Partner, responsible for the growth aspects of the practice; and Concurring
Partner, responsible for ensuring audit quality on high-risk engagements before
the issuance of financial statements.
He has been an active member
in a variety of firmwide roles, including the McGladrey & Pullen Board of
Directors, the Marketing Standing Group, the People Standing Group, the Women’s
Advisory Committee and others.
Adams is a member of the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Illinois CPA Society. He also has been
involved with numerous professional, civic and charitable organizations.
Education
Adams is a 1977 graduate of DePaul University
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He also holds a Master of
Business Administration degree in Operations Management from DePaul University.
